Polaris Predator 560 Flame Thrower ATV
ATVParts.Biz, Built the Trick-est Polaris Predator we have seen!
When we asked Bobby from ATVParts.Biz, why he pick the Polaris Predator atv for this project. His answer: It’s simple, it had’nt been done yet! And we wanted to give the Predator atv guys something to drool over and the end result was the trickest Polaris Predator ATV we have seen!
ATV Parts Biz started with a 2003 Polaris Predator ATV, tore it down, and took cylinder and head to Luttig Performance where George (owner) ported and polished the head using a computerized flow bench technique. George, also lightens the flywheel for more zip out of the hole.
A Wiseco 560cc hi-comp piston kit was added which is the biggest atv piston Wiseco has made according to Jay Clark of Wiseco, Jay Also says, This Predator 560 ATV Piston has 12.5:1 compression with a bore of 64.6 and was originally a Wiseco car piston cut down. The cylinder was bored and the Wiseco big bore sleeve installed with a set of proto type ATV Hot Cams. However, before assembling engine, Bobby had ATV parts polished to add to the racy look. engine was then assembled with a Cometic gasket kit.
Once ATV engine was back in frame, a Hinson ATV clutch basket with a Magura hydraulic clutch kit (Robert says every quad should have when adding big power) was added.
To keep atv engine running cool a triple pass alloy radiator from Intense Fab was installed which adds 120% more fluid for better cooling. However, when you have a $500 radiator, you want to protect it and R-Beast makes, a trick polished atv radiator grill that raps around front and sides of radiator and has a reserve bottle guard and billet bottle cap to match. (Also check out polished guards on shock reserve)
On the atv exhaust, Bobby used the Factory 4 exhaust system from FMF Racing which according to him makes great power on the Predator and is light weight @3.5lbs.
On the intake, it consists of an FMF Jet kit with the R-Beast hi-flo air box kit and filter. This set up will help the intake air flow and you still use the stock air box which will help keep water mud and sand out of carb and off filter.
The ATV ignition is a Dynatek CDI set on curve 2, this curve has a better timing curve then stock and 1000 extra RPM’s. To start this hi compression race engine a Power Source high cranking amps ATV battery is used. This combination worked very well as you can see by the Dyno chart. This engine revs like a 2 stroke with updated 55HP! (Stock was 42hp)
ATV Suspension and Body: The Predator ATV is a little heavier then most of the sport quads and needed a good shock. Works Performance make some great ATV suspension components and used there triple rate piggy back shocks set up for 180-200lbs rider with Outer Wear covers and they absolutely work awesome on the big dune jumps and soaking up the terrain. The Dura Blue +2 eliminator ATV axle was used, which gave the Predator ATV a more stable and comfortable ride.
According to Bobby while they had the quad apart, IPS polished and chromed most of the ATV parts, such as the swing arm, sub frame, foot pegs, a arms and polished out the cases and cylinder. IPS added a R-Beast ATV guard on the battery and shock reserve for a little added protection and looks.
ATV Handlebars, IPS used 909 ATV fat bar and grips with the CR hi bend. These worked with the Trail Tech fat polished ATV bar clamp with Predator logo (nice touch). On the bars where added the R-Beast master cylinder flamed cover and a motion pro twist throttle.
To get the power to the ground is where Maxxis tires come in. These roosters tires bite and put the power to the sand. Tires mounted on a set of Douglas’s new shamrock style rims, Robert say these rims eat up big dune jumps and are trick in looks.
DG new Fat Series V-Pro ATV bumper, which fit the Predator styling is what Bobby used. Along with the Fat Series ATV nerf bars, DG Baja engine and swing arm skid to protect the under carriage.
ATV Plastics where cut and drop off at Twisted Images, We told rusty owner of Twisted Images to do what ever he wanted. Twisted Images is known for there trick painting of sand toys. Rusty says he had a paint scheme that he wanted to try and thought the Predator would be the perfect match. Rusty started with Porsche red flames with a silver fade into a dark metallic. Rusty out did himself on this one, it is one of the sickest paint jobs we have seen on a quad.
